Unpacking The MBA
Join us on Thursday, September 28th @ 5:00pm at Wells Fargo's office at 333 Market Street on the 1st floor for our event "Unpacking The MBA." This event will provide insight for our attendees on various options available to continue their education, and will help them decipher if acquiring an MBA is the right move for them. We will have a 45 minute panel with panelists from Harvard, Mills College, NYU, and Stanford University, followed by breakout sessions so that attendees will have the opportunity to sit with each panelist and ask them questions individually.
Lulu Curiel is the Founder and CEO of Ivy Advisors, an elite admissions consulting firm that helps people land their target schools. She has a passion for mentoring others and for developing talent. Because of her unique personal and professional experiences, Lulu has had great success helping clients from diverse backgrounds and application profiles.
Prior to Ivy Advisors, Lulu led business operations at Apple, where she negotiated multi-million dollar deals with iMac suppliers, allocated billion dollar sales quotas in the U.S., and helped design and execute sales programs across the globe.
Lulu graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Computer Systems Engineering from Boston University. Lulu lives in Mountain View, California with her husband, Martin (HBS’04), and their children Francisco and Isabela.
Vanessa Tapia Hartigan is President of Trusted Ventures, LLC, her family office focused on building the Impact500. She was previously a Director on the Senior Relationship Management team for Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s Institutional business. Reporting directly to the Head of Institutional Sales, Vanessa acted as the COO for the Western Region, running a team responsible for front office management, included building out the product business plans, compliance/audit and recruiting. Vanessa was responsible for working across Bank of America Merrill Lynch product teams to strategically identify and grow revenues for the West Coast mutual fund and hedge fund buy-side clients. Prior to Senior Relationship Management, she was a Prime Brokerages sales person and relationship manager for the West Coast.
Before joining Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Vanessa was a business development officer and product manager for Finaplex, a San Francisco based fintech software company, which provided client relationship management applications for financial advisors. Vanessa also previously worked in New York as a Financial Analyst in Corporate Finance at Goldman Sachs & Co. She has over 18 years of experience in financial services. She has a BA in International Relations, MA in Food Research (Developmental Economics) and an MBA from Stanford University. She is also an Alumni of Sponsors for Educational Opportunities Career and the Toigo MBA Fellowship.
Vanessa is currently involved with several non-profits including Puente de la Costa Sur, Vital Voices as well as SEO Scholars. She is an active volunteer for her alma mater, Stanford University, having served on the Graduate School of Business Alumni Association Board and in numerous other roles for the GSB, including the leadership team for San Francisco Chapter of GSB Alumni Women's Circles, Admissions, the Alumni Consulting Team and most recently the Stanford Alumni Committee on Trustee Nomination. Vanessa spent her early childhood in Liberia, West Africa with her Chilean parents. She is fluent in Spanish and conversational in French. She, her husband and 10 year old son live in San Francisco. She enjoys reading books on dyslexia, history and science and spending time with her family.
Cindy Miño is a Deal Advisory Manager at KPMG, living in the Bay Area, with family roots in Ecuador, South America. As the first generation in her family to be raised in the United States, Cindy embodies a bi-cultural spirit. This enthusiasm for cultural diversity is ever present from her studies to professional endeavors.
In 2008, Cindy was awarded the prestigious fellowship from the Consortium for Graduate Study in Management. The Consortium is the nation’s largest diversity network, linking top-tier students, leading MBA programs and corporate partners, including Fortune 500 companies. As a fellow, she attended New York University Stern School of Business and completed a Master’s in Business Administration. Cindy remains a strong advocate of the Consortium’s mission.
At KPMG, Cindy is focused on helping clients complete acquisitions and divestitures as part of the Deal Advisory consulting team. In addition to these responsibilities, Cindy is the Local Chapter Leader for KPMG’s Hispanic Latino Network in the Silicon Valley Office. In this capacity she provides leadership to advance local office diversity recruiting, professional development and retention, and community support.
Claudia has been in the financial services industry since 2005 and joined Wells Fargo Advisors in May 2017, after having a successful career at Merrill Lynch for 11 years. Her focus is on developing strategies for high-net-worth individuals, their families and their businesses to help them pursue their short- and long-term financial goals.
Claudia works closely with clients to identify their life priorities and commits herself to developing strategies customized to fit their personal circumstances and own unique feeling and attitudes. She is focused on delivering a wealth management strategy, while also understanding the human side. Her relationships are collaborations—with full transparency, high standards, a sense of purpose and simple conversations.
Claudia graduated from Mills College, with a B.A. degree in Economics, and a Masters in Business Administration. She was born in El Salvador, but grew up in San Francisco and Mexico. In her spare time she enjoys running and traveling. Claudia is a native San Franciscan where she currently resides with her husband and sons.
